Learning Objectives
At the end of this module, students should be able to:
1. Describe the different paths that incoming solar radiation takes and what controls the distribution of insolation among these paths.
2. Describe the distribution of insolation across Earth's surface over the course of the year.
3. Identify the primary sources and sinks in the Earth's global energy budget.
4. Describe global temperature patterns and the role water plays in distributing energy to create these patterns.
5. Be able to describe the greenhouse effect and the role it plays in global climate change.
6. Understand the differences between the primary global climate types.
7. Describe the types of data scientists collect in order to better understand past climates.
8. Describe both the natural and anthropogenic factors and feedback mechanisms that drive climate change.
